Lane Closures on U.S. 50 in Downtown Fallon This Saturday

According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, lane closures will take place on Saturday, October 21 on U.S. 50 through downtown Fallon as the Nevada Department of Transportation places final paving and temporary striping on the highway.

  • On Oct. 21 between 6 a.m.-6 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on U.S. 50 between Coleman Road and South Allen Road in downtown Fallon as crews resurface the highway.
  • Brief intersection closures will take place at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Coleman/Casey Road, Taylor Place, and South Allen Road.
  • Driveway access may be briefly unavailable as paving is conducted in front of individual driveways.

Intermittent lane closures and shifts have been in place since June as NDOT resurfaces U.S. 50 between the U.S. 50A intersection and Allen Road in Fallon. Drivers will also continue to see the following lane closures and shifts on sections of U.S. 50 between the U.S. 50A Leeteville Junction and Allen Road through early winter.

  • Lane reductions on U.S. 50 between the U.S. 50A Leeteville junction and Coleman/Casey roads will take place Mondays through Fridays from 6a.m.-6p.m. for final paving and striping.
  • At least one lane in each direction will remain open during construction.
  • Motorists are advised to follow all work zone signage and controls, and to travel safely through the work zone.

The project will repave and reconstruct sections of U.S. 50 between U.S. 50A and Allen Road, as well as make pedestrian access and roadway drainage, bridge and electrical improvements. The roadway was last fully repaved in 2002/2003, with minor resurfacing more recently.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit nvroads.com or call 511 before driving.
