Congratulations to the Fallon/Churchill Volunteer Fire Department for their recertification as an ISO 1 department. Representatives from the Insurance Service Office (ISO) presented the summary report awarding the designation at City Hall earlier this month.
An ISO 1 rating is the highest a department can earn. The Fallon/Churchill Fire Department first earned the designation in 1995 and has maintained it ever since.
A community’s ISO rating is one of the factors considered when determining homeowners’ insurance rates; the higher the rating, the lower the potential insurance rate.
The Fallon/Churchill Fire Department was the first all-volunteer department in the country to achieve the ISO 1 rating and is currently one of four departments out of 103 in Nevada to hold the rating.
The fire department has 36 volunteers to cover fire emergencies in Churchill County.
