The Churchill County Detention Center, housed inside the Churchill County Sheriff's Office, opened in December 2017 and is a much-welcomed improvement over the older, overcrowded facility we used to have. The Detention Center primarily houses adults but can accept juveniles if they have been adjudicated as an adult and remanded to our custody by the Courts. The majority of our population are pre-trial inmates, who are housed here until they make bail or are awaiting trial.
The detention facility is rated as a 120-bed facility, however, operational capacity fluctuates between 65 and 80 based on the classification of the inmates.
Inmates initially booked into the facility are locked down in their cells for 48 hours and are only available for phone calls one hour a day. After that time, they can be put on a "tier rotation" of either morning or evenings time out of their cells for phone calls, shower, TV, etc. Staff will not advise anyone calling in of inmate "tier rotations" nor pass messages to inmates.
NOTE: Due to COVID-19 issues, all new inmates are locked down for five days for quarantine observation with an hour out of their cell a day to make calls, shower, etc.
Mail sent to an inmate should have the sender's return address and be addressed to:
<Inmate name> Churchill County Detention Center 180 West A Street Fallon, NV 89406
Use VINE to register for notification on changes to an inmate's custody status. The Nevada VINE system is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for information regarding the custody status of their offender and to register to receive telephone and e-mail notification when the offender's custody status changes. The VINE toll-free number for the Nevada VINE system is (888) 268-8463. This service is provided to assist Victims of Crime who have a right to know about their offender's custody status.
