Staff & Duties
The Probation Department consists of the chief juvenile probation officer, a deputy chief juvenile probation officer, four deputy juvenile probation officers, an office supervisor, an office specialist, and a legal secretary.
The probation personnel work primarily with school age youth between the ages of 7 and 18, although pursuant to Nevada Revised Statutes, young people may be supervised per the court until age 21. Additionally, the staff works with children under the age of 7 who are displaying aggressive or antisocial behaviors or who have been abused and/or neglected.
Youth are referred to the juvenile authorities by numerous agencies, including:
- Churchill County Sheriff's Department
- Fallon Police Department
- Nevada Highway Patrol
- Churchill County School District
- Parks and Recreation
- Fish and Game
- Department of Child and Family Services
- Youth Parole
- Fallon Rural Counseling and Supportive Services
In addition, youth are also referred by their parents or they may contact the department on their own and request assistance.
